Roger L. Dow

With heavy hearts, the Memorials Foundation and the Heritage Association announce that Roger L. Dow of Clarks Summit, PA, left formation on 10 February 2016. Roger was a 412th armorer and gunner. He passed away peacefully in Banner Baywood Hospice (AZ) while wintering in Mesa. Folded wings.
Roger was born in Corinth, VT, to the late Ernest and Eda Buzzi Dow on 14 September 1921. Before his retirement, Roger worked as a foreman at Anemostat Dynamics Corp. He... was married to the late Norma Beatrice MacMillan Dow for over 64 years. Norma passed away in 2012.
Roger, reads his obituary, “was a proud Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving with the 95th Bomb Group. He was also a member of Abington Memorial VFW Post 7069 in Clarks Summit. Roger was an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing in Arizona and at home in Pennsylvania, where he was a long-standing member of Emanon Country Club. He served as a Boy Scout leader, enjoyed bowling, playing softball and umpiring Little League baseball. Roger appreciated a good cigar, dancing to Big Band music with Norma, completing a challenging crossword puzzle, and singing with the Scranton Barbershop Chorus. He was affectionately known as a good-hearted grouch.
“Surviving are two sons, Steve, with whom he resided; and Russ and wife Stacy, South Lake Tahoe, CA; daughter Cherie and husband Steve Evans, Rochester, N.Y.; brother Kenneth Dow; two sisters, Pauline Henderson and Ruth Bartley and her husband Bob; step-grandchild Erin; and two step-great-grandchildren, Riley and Mia. He also leaves behind many good friends, neighbors and golf buddies at Viewpoint RV and Golf Resort in Mesa, AZ.”
“The family would also like to express their deep appreciation to the nurses and staff at Banner Baywood Hospital/Hospice in Mesa for the care and compassion shown to Roger and his family. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.
“In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Roger's name may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411 or any memorial gift donation to the charity of donor's choice in Roger's name.”
