In deep sadness, the Memorials Foundation and the Heritage Association announce that John Miccio, Sr., of Garwood, NJ, left formation on 12 April 2016 at age 93. John was a 334th radio operator. He passed away peacefully at home. Folded wings.
A retired postal supervisor, John was born in Italy and was an 88-year resident of Garwood, where he lived since boyhood. As his obituary states, “Mr. Miccio was with the U.S. Post Office in Garwood for 40 years..., retiring in 1985 as a postal supervisor. A sergeant in the Army Air Corps, he was based in England and flew 35 bombing missions during World War II. He was a member of the Garwood Knights of Columbus Council No. 5437 and had been active in Little League Baseball and in St. Anne's Church CYO.
“He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lillian. Surviving are two devoted sons, Ralph (Susan) and John, Jr. (Debra); his loving daughter, Madelene Zambito (Lawrence); five devoted grandchildren, Renee, Scott, Larry, John III, and Christina; and three beloved great-granddaughters, Ella, Charlotte, and Mia Bella. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Boys Town.”
