George H. Lukens

With heavy hearts, the Memorials Foundation and the Heritage Association announce that George Lukens of Leesburg, FL, left formation on Thursday, 28 January 2016. George was a 335th gunner who was wounded in action. Folded wings.

Mr. Lukens flew as waist and tail gunner with the Ned Richardson crew aboard “Mason-Dixon Liner,” 46902. George’s son Steve built a model of 6902 in honor of father. That replica resides at the RFC.

George was predeceased by his wife of 53 years Mary Kathryn in 2003. Steve wrote that “Pop has taken his last journey home.” George’s being with Mary again was surely a big part of that final trip.
