In deep sadness, the Memorials Foundation and the Heritage Association announce that Richard Werner Creutz of Elk Grove Village left formation on 24 January 2016 at age 95. He was a member of the 457th Sub Depot Company. Mr. Creutz passed away peacefully in hospice at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Folded wings.

“Werner” was born in Radeburg, Germany, and grew up in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. He was baptized, confirmed, and was very a...ctive at St. James Lutheran Church. At St. James, Werner made many lifelong friends and there met his wife Hildegard. After serving in the Army Air Force from 1943-1945, he worked as a lighting engineer for fifty years at the Garcy Corporation from which he retired at the age 71.

As his obituary reads, “Werner was an avid Cubs fan, loved to fish and travel, could fix just about anything, sang in the men’s choir, and was blessed to be a cancer survivor. His favorite memories were spent with his family and good friends at holiday gatherings, family parties, and vacations at the lake in Eagle River Wisconsin. He will always be remembered as a faithful man of God, caring, and a wonderful role model to his family.

“He is survived by his loving wife Hildegard of 66 years; his 3 children, Rick (Louise), Carol (Joe) Hajkaluk, Ron (Debbie); 5 grandchildren, Kevin (Lauren), Beth (Matt), Becky, Melissa, Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Connor, Colin, Corbin, Sage, Anaiah; and his dear sister Annelies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Helen.
