Bennie Herman Salge

December 14, 1924 – October 22, 2005

Bennie Herman Salge, 80, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2005 at his home. He was born in Karnes County, Texas, on December 14, 1924, to Bennie and Linda (Ladewig) Salge. He married Abbie Ruth Vickery on June 15, 1947 in Kenedy, Texas. Bennie was a member of Robstown First United Methodist Church and the Robstown Lodge No. 1062, A.F.&A.M.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the 95th Bomb Group of the Army Air Corps. Bennie worked 16 years for Tennessee Gas and Transmission Company before joining Celanese in 1967. He retired from Celanese in 1986.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sharleane Salge Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Abbie Ruth (Vickery) Salge of Robstown; a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Cindy Spears Salge of Magnolia, Texas; a brother, Curtis Salge of Hackberry, Louisiana; a sister, Janice Blaschke of Kenedy, Texas; four grandsons, Randy, Robert, Richard and Ryan Salge.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday in Sawyer-George Funeral Home.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 27, 2005 in the Kenedy Cemetery in Kenedy, Texas with Rev. Betty Tuttle ofciating. Burial will follow.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
