Sterling Harry Shaffer
November 7, 1917 – October 21, 2002
Sterling Harry Shaffer, 84, of the Brethren Home in New Oxford and formerly of Melrose, Md., died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at the Brethren Home. He was the husband of the late Nadine Naomi Myers Shaffer. Born Nov. 7, 1917, in Manchester, Md., he was the son of the late Harry Ruben and Mabel Anna Sellers Shaffer.
He was a retired painter for S.L. Hammeran Building Co. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester, Md. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the 95th Bomb Group Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Jeffrey Lynn Shaffer of Leesburg, Va.; one daughter, Joyce Lee Brawner of Odenton, Md.; one sister, Arlene Peters of Lancaster County; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie Arbaugh and Edna Ferrier; and one brother, Ralph Shaffer.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3184 Church St. in Manchester, Md. His ministers, the Revs. Matthew and Norma Schenning, will be ofciating. Burial will be in the New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester, Md. Friends may call at the church at 10 a.m. Friday until the time of service. Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., of Manchester, Md., is in charge of arrangements.
