Guy Leslie Tice

March 16, 1925 – April 4, 2015

Guy Leslie Tice, Lakewood, WI, passed away Saturday, April 4th, 2015, at the age of 90. Guy was born March 16, 1925 in Redgranite, Wisconsin to Guy G. and Gertrude (Wagner) Tice. Guy's mother died when he was just 10 days old, and due to the Depression and other factors, he was raised primarily by his aunt Abbie (Abigail) Tice.

In June of 1942, at the age of 17, he lied about/misremembered his age and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps along with his brother, Carmen (Bud). In April 1943, after completing his training, his crew had a harrowing adventure flying across the Atlantic, getting off course and running out of fuel. Thankfully, they made an emergency landing outside Clonakilty in County Cork, Ireland, which is still fondly talked about by the locals to this day. You can read more at http://tinyw.in/YtOY

Guy was based with the 95th Bomb Group / 334th squadron in Horham, England as a top turret gunner and navigator on a B17. He completed his required 25 bombing missions on October 2nd, 1943.After his safe return to the states in early 1944, he joined his sister Phyllis and her husband, John Thomas in Los Angeles, CA, where he began working for Southern California Bell. In 1946, Guy married the former Shirley Bolton, his first wife and mother of his two sons, Paul and Greg. Guy and Shirley moved back to Wisconsin and eventually settled in Green Bay until their divorce in 1967. His job with the phone company took him to Milwaukee in 1969. He married the former Patricia Bachhuber-Bromund in 1978 and together they retired and moved to Lakewood, WI in 1980.

During his retirement years, Guy ran the men's golf league at McCauslin Brook Golf Course in Lakewood. He also belonged to the McCauslin Lions Club and was instrumental in the original restoration of the Holt & Balcom Logging Camp buildings at McCauslin Brook Golf Course . He and Patricia wintered in Tucson, Arizona, until her sudden death in 1995. 

A short time later, Guy fell in love with June Alberstson, who was his companion for more than 18 years. They too spent the winters in Arizona where Guy continued to golf and volunteer at the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tuscon until his health began to decline  .Guy is survived by his son Paul and his children Tiffany, Dustin, and Christopher; son Greg (Pamela) and their children Joey, Micah, and Bethany; great grandchildren Sara and Tristan; older brother Bud.

Guy was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Phyllis, and his wife Patricia .A special graveside service with Military Honors will be held at the Lakewood Forest Cemetery, Hwy 32, Lakewood, WI on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
