Louis Freiberg

In deep sadness, the Memorials Foundation and the Heritage Association announce that Louis Frieberg of Beachwood, OH, left formation at age 94 on 1 March 2018. Louis served the 95th faithfully with the 2022nd Aviation Engineers Fire Fighting Platoon. Folded wings.
Louis was born in Cleveland on 18 July 1923 to Sam and Anna Freiberg. As his obituary reads, he “was a graduate of John Adams High School and a World War II veteran, serving in the 8th Air Force stationed in England. Louis owned Van Aken Hardware and was a partner at Transcon Builders. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans masons and a board member of the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage and Chase Bank.
“Louis was an avid football fan.
“He was the husband of Eleanor (née Spector) for 51 years; father of Lisa (Dale) Katz and Jane (Randy) Dunay; grandfather of Jonathan (Danielle) Katz, Lauren (Jeffrey) Burrows and Shawna (Michael) Cohn; and great-grandfather of Jordyn, Braden, Charlie, Alexis and Taylor. He is predeceased by his siblings Gertrude Kluchin and Florence Kaufman.
“Funeral services were held March 4 at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel. Internment was at Mount Olive Cemetery.
“Family [received] friends March 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at 27500 Cedar Road No. 308 in Beachwood.
"Contributions are suggested to the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage.”
