Funeral services were held at the Croy chapel here today for Harold B. Iliff, 64. Strong City postmaster 21 years and co-owner, with his son, Richard Iliff, of the Chase County Leader-News here. Mr. Iliff, a veteran Kansas newspaper man, died in an Emporia hospital last Wednesday, several hours after suffering a heart attack.

Born at Vinland, Kansas, Mr. Iliff began his work as a printer under the late W. C. Simons on the old Lawrence World, now the Journal-World. In addition he worked for daily newspapers as a linotype operator in Nebraska, Missouri and Colorado before purchasing the Strong City News from the late W.C. Austin. In 1952 the Cottonwood Falls Leader was purchased and the papers merged. Richard Iliff is now the active editor-manager.

Mr. Iliff was a veteran of both World Wars and was active in the American Legion, as well as the Masonic bodies. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Consistory at Topeka, of the Zeredath lodge No. 80, A.F. & A.M., and of the Chase County Scottish Rite club.

He leaves his wife, the son and a grandson. Burial was in the Strong City cemetery.
