Edward J. Lane, 79, a retired Major of the 8th Army-Air Force, 95th Bomb Group based in England during WWII, local businessman, volunteer in charitable causes. 

Survived by seven children and 15 grandchildren.

Died February 29 in Annapolis, Maryland. He was an active member of St. Mary’s of Redford Parish along with his wife Dorothy R. Lane who died June 2, 1990. Mr. Lane was the son of Daniel Lane and Anna Horgan of County Tralee, Ireland. Mr. Lane was a member of The Knights of Columbus, the Exchange Club of Farmington and was a past Executive Director of the Farmington Chamber of Commerce. A burial service is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday March I at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 25800 W. 10 Mile, Southfield. A memorial Mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s of Redford Church, 14750 St. Mary’s, Detroit. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Dorothy R. Lane Memorial Fund for scholarships at St. Mary’s of Redford.
