Robert E. McConnell

July 18, 1921 – June 30, 2014

Robert E. McConnell entered into rest after a brief illness on Monday, June 30, 2014, at Memorial Hospital at the age of 92. He was the husband of the late Julia A. (Sutton) McConnell who entered into rest on September 30, 1984 and the late Norma R. (Adams) Almoney McConnell who entered into rest on July 9, 2011. Robert was born in York on July 18, 1921, and was the son of the late Claude and Edna (Crist) McConnell.

Robert served in the United States Army Air Force during WWII. He worked as an electrical assembler, retiring from Fincor.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara A. Haner and husband Robert of York and Ruth E. Holtzinger and husband Rick of Red Lion; two stepsons, Gary Sutton of Red Lion and Bruce Almoney of Manchester; ve grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren.

There will be a viewing today, Wednesday, July 2, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. Service of Honor and Praise for Robert will begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Larry A. McConnell, interim pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in York, will ofciate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church Cemetery.
