John Wise Hargrove of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Talco, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Titus County Memorial Hospital in Mount Pleasant.

Services were to be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bates-Cooper-Weems Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Pleasant with burial at Gladewater Cemetery.

Mr. Hargrovew was born in Titus County on October 5, 1920. He was a chemist at Lone Star Steel. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a captain in the U.S. Air Force and as a pilot with the 95th Bomber Squadron. He was reared in Talco and graduated from Talco High School.

Survivors include his wife, the former Billie Redfearn; one daughter, Mrs. Susan Worthey of Mount Pleasant; three sons, Burx Hargrove of Linden, and Rand Hargrove and Mark Hargrove, both of Mount Pleasant; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Wright of Talco, Mrs. Mary Ann Schneilin of Paris, France, and Mrs. Patsy Loftin of Longview; one brother, Eugene Hargrove of Garland; and five grandchildren.
