Stacy John Tavis, 84, died Thursday, December 1st in Upland where he was a resident for 30 years. He was born on August 14 in Hoboken, New Jersey. He served his country as a B-17 Pilot in the 95th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force during WW2, survived a mid-air collision and returned his crew safely back to their base in England.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he is survived by his wife Katherine, son John Tavis and his wife, Pattie; son Craig Strauser and his wife Corinne; grandchildren Nicole and Stacey Tavis, Chelsea and Catherine Strauser. Memorial Service to be held at Stone Funeral Home, 355 East 9th Street, Upland on Saturday, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. If desired, memorial gifts may be made to the Upland Fireghters Association, in honor of Stacy J. Tavis, (P. O. Box 470) 475 N. 2nd Avenue, Upland, CA 91785.
