Martin Watson Taylor passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 from Alzheimer's Disease. at age 94. He was.a bomber pilot and POW in WWII, and later served as USAF maintenance officer and pilot in the Korean conflict. He retired from the Air Force Reserves as a Lt. Colonel.

He married Jean Bomar in 1945 and they began their sentimental journey and Martin's airline career. Graduating from Purdue University in 1948, he was selected by the School of Engineering faculty to receive their prestigious "Distinguished Alumnus Award" in 1978 for his outstanding professional career in air transportation. While at Pan American World Airways in New York, he was in charge of the development and operation of America's first airline jet engine overhaul facility. After 20 years he joined Continental Airlines in California as Vice President of Maintenance. He launched an extensive airline cooperative program with Purdue which benefited countless students. Throughout their lives, the children remember wonderful family vacation trips to Europe, South America, and their condo in Kauai, HI. When they retired to Florida, Martin consulted for various airlines and was on a government advisory board for aging aircraft. Florida created a great environment, not only for golfing, but for Jean and Martin to share their love for boating, fishing, and sailing with their grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Jean Taylor. He is survived by their children: Susan Davis, Diane Rimpela (Glenn), Martin Taylor, Jr. (Martha); his grandchildren; Scott Davis (Lauren), Chelsea Davis, Mallory Taylor, McCall Taylor, Charles Rimpela (Brooke); his great-grandchildren; Ethan Davis, Colette Davis.

A special thanks to all the loving friends that work for Vi at Lakeside in Lantana and other companions who have helped Martin and his family through his journey for the last 12 years.
