JOHN MYRVIS PEARSON, 88, formerly of Lambert, died Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Landmark Community in Booneville. He was born September 16, 1920, in French Camp to John Wayman Pearson and Minnie Belle Dunn Pearson. He served in World War II as a Captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps 95th Bombardment Group as a bombardier, and he was a P.O.W. for a year in Germany. For his heroic military service, he was awarded a Purple Heart, P.O.W. Medal, Air Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, American Defense Medal, European Theater Operations Medal.

He was a member of the Marks Presbyterian Church, the Air Force Association, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, VFW and the Retired Officers Association.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 6 at the Marks Presbyterian Church in Marks, MS with Dr. Laurie Jones officiating. Burial will be in French Camp Cemetery. Survivors include nieces, Margaret Ann Pearson Moore of North Carolina and Lynn Pearson of Covington, TN; cousins, Pearl and Earl Millsaps of Booneville; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Edith Pearson Barham; two brothers, Delayon Pearson and Lester Pearson.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to French Camp Academy, One Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745, or a charity of the donor's choice.
