Harry K. Richmond, 87, of Prophetstown, formerly of Morrison, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Prophetstown. He was a self- employed carpenter and farmer for many years.

Harry was born March 18, 1924, in Morrison, the son of Paul and Mary (Carroll) Richmond. Harry married Patty Bogle on Oct. 5, 1948, in Morrison. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2011. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.

Survivors include one daughter, Beth (Rod) Wiersema of Pella, Iowa; one son, John (Jeannie) Richmond of Prophetstown; two sisters, Mary Lou Johnson of Redlands, Calif., and Joanne (Merle) Linton of Sterling; one brother, Dan (Lois) Richmond of Beloit, Wis.; four grandchildren, Karla (Jason) Stewart, Jana (Charles) Voorhis, and Nick and Andrew Richmond; four great-grandchildren, Alan and Sarah Bowen, Charles Voorhis and Gavan Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Jackson, and Helen Richmond in infancy; and five brothers, Frank, John, Art and Herb Richmond, and James Richmond in infancy.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home, Prophetstown. The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Porter of Abiding Word Church in Sterling officiating. Burial will be at Lyndon Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.
