Elwood 'Johnny' Johnson
August 12, 1916 – January 21, 2005
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in Bay City International Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tillamook for V. Elwood "Johnny" Johnson, who died Jan. 15 at age 88.
Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 12, 1916, in Remer, Minn., and moved to Portland as a child. He graduated from Jefferson High School. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps in Europe and earned a Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war, he returned to Portland, and was called again to active duty, serving in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a salesman for several auto parts companies. He moved to Rockaway Beach in 1978 and to Marysville, Wash., in 2000. In 1944, he married Marie R. Martin; she died in 1980.
Survivors include his sons, Paul and Russell; daughters, Michelle and Victoria; brother, Carl; and four grandchildren.
