Services for Albert Ayers Forrester Sr., 90, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in Alexandria, La., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Varnado ofciating.

Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Morris Cemetery in Franklinton, La., under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Forrester was born Jan. 19, 1919, in Teague, Texas, the son of Ayers and Jennie A. Forrester. He had been a resident of Ferriday since 1948 and was a member of Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church where he served on the Church Board.

Mr. Forrester was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a First lieutenant in the 95th Bomb Squad 8th Air. He ew 35 missions over Germany and received the Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and a medal from the Russian government. He was a retired landman and also was the manager of Concordia Electric.

Mr. Forrester was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis Club and the Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen "Kitty" Welch Forrester; and one brother, Herman Forrester.

Survivors include one daughter, Alice Ann Forrester Hunter and husband, Hillman Edward "Eddie" Hunter, of Tulsa, Okla.; two sons, Leo Forrester of Ferriday and Albert Ayers Forrester Jr. and wife, Sallie Allen Forrester, of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Renee Hunter Herndon of Broken Arrow, Okla., Benjamin Forrester and Julia Forrester, both of Atlanta; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Katie and Taylor Herndon; one sister-in-law, Anna Forrester of Fredricksburg, Texas; and two nephews, Ronnie and Joe Ed Forrester.

Pallbearers will be Bill Colvin, Billy Rucker, Myles Hopkins, Buddy Tanner, John Rife and John Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Anders, Bubba Gremillion, Glen Gremillion, Billy Harris, Tom Milliken, Bob Strozier, Clint Vegas and Richard White.
