Charles “Ray” Harris, 71, Danville, died March 13 at Hendricks Community Hospital. He was born Sept. 17, 1921 in Indianapolis to William and Alma Harris (Ragan).

He was employed at Link-Belt (presently called F.M.C.) for forty years, while also farming in Hendricks County with his son, retiring in 1981.

Mr. Harris was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Force, serving in the 95th Bomb Group. He was also a member of Kingsway Christian Church, Bridgeport Masonic Lodge, Avon Lions Club, American Ex-POWs, Plainfield Order of Eastern Star, and was a member of the first Avon School Board.

Survivors include: wife, Edna Harris (Bussard) of Danville; daughter, Dayna R. Beaman of Indianapolis; son, Terry A. Harris of Danville; sisters, Marjorie Seller of Danville, Betty Phillips of Indianapolis, and Wilma Jean Mann of Bloomington; and five grandchildren.

Services will be conducted Wednesday, March 17, at Conkle Funeral Home, Hendricks County Chapel, with Rev. John Caldwell officiating.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. March 16. Also, there is a special Masonic service that evening at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or Kingsway Christian Church Building Fund.
