Donald W. Reinhart

Donald W. Reinhart, 88, Carey, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, while working on the family farm.
He was born Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1921, in Seneca County, to Linus A. and Esther E. (Brooks) Reinhart. He married Anna C. Martin April 12, 1947, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and she survives in Carey.
Also surviving are his four children, Kathy (Tim) Bradford of Findlay, Mary Jane Reinhart of Carey, Jan (Daniel) Elling of Houston, TX and Richard "Rick" (Ellen) Reinhart of Lexington, Mass.; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harold (Mary Fran) Reinhart of Barrington, Ill., Bernard Reinhart of Tucson, Ariz. and Franklin Reinhart of Carey; and three sisters, Mary Lou (James) Gohl of Port Charlotte, Fla., Rita (Eugene) Newell of Galion and Virginia (Dwight) Orians of Carey.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, William "Chillie" and Gerald "Jerry" Reinhart; and two sisters-in-law, Jane and Dorothy Reinhart.
Donald was a life-long farmer and also worked at Swan Rubber Co. and National Lime and Stone Co. both in Carey. He was an U.S. Army Air Corp. Veteran of WW II. He was a prisoner of war for 18 months in Krems, Austria.
He was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Carey. Donald was a member of the K of C Council 1925, life member of the American Legion #344 and VFW #3759. He was a 1940 graduate of Carey High School. He enjoyed playing solitaire, jig saw puzzles and riding around the farm on his gator.
Friends will be received 2-8 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010, at the Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. A rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 26, at The Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Carey with the Rev. J.R. Hadnagy, OFM Conv., officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Carey with military graveside rites.
