Peacock, Charles B.
T/Sgt Charles B. Peacock, Radio Operator on the Glen F. Ransom crew that went down on 6 Sept 1943, is the only 95th BG airman to have died of exposure while trying to evade & escape. Peacock's parachute landing, his French Underground contacts in the countryside, his lodging and travel through Paris and into the northern border of Spain, and his tragic end in the Pyrenees are documented in the 95th BG evader reports from Vincent J. Cox, Ralph E. Houser, and Pasquale J. Delvento. At one point Cox came back for Peacock as they neared Andorra, then later sent a guide back to assist him. Neither Peacock nor the guide returned from the mountains and were presumed dead. Peacock was "killed in action" from the 6 Sept 1943 mission, but his actual death was approximately 29 Oct 1943 while trying to evade & escape over the Pyrenees.
