Hyman Wishkin, 90, Manchester, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2012.  He was born in Philadelphia on Sept. 26, 1921, the son of Louis and Sarah (Corson) Wishkin. During World War II, he joined the Army Air Corps and was stationed at Grenier Air Field in Manchester, where he met the love of his life, Rosalie Eluto. He was a technical sergeant, an AAF engineer, and waist gunner on the Eighth AAF's B-17 Flying Fortress "Darlin' Dolly's Daughter." Hy earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for completing more than 30 missions over Europe and continued to remain active in the 95th Bomb Group.

For over 60 years, Hy was an active member of the Freemasons, then the Shrine. He was a member of the B Patrol of Bektash Temple and was chairman of the Bektash Circus in the 1980s. Throughout the years, Hy enjoyed participating in many fundraising activities for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Hy was a longtime member of Temple Adath Yeshurun and its Brotherhood. In 2001, he was selected as TAY "Man of the Year." In addition, he served on various committees and sang in the choir. He was a salesman with Eluto Brothers then for Treisman Brothers for more than 50 years, total. Hy also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and a good book. His most treasured times were spent with family and friends.

Hy is survived by three daughters, Sandra Mitchell and her husband Edward of Baltimore, Sharon Linder and her husband Stephen of Providence, R.I., and Joyce Freeman and her husband Andrew of Dallas; seven grandchildren, Adam, Sarah, Rebecca, Sydney, Olivia, Isaac, and Abigail; one great-grandchild, Zavier; and his devoted friend for over 50 years, Frank Case. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie, in 2010; a great-grandson Alexander; and three siblings Morris, Rubin and Esther.
