George V. MacIsaac

December 25, 1920 – November 24, 2012

George V. MacIsaac, age 91, of Erie passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at UPMC Hamot. He was born December 25, 1920 in Erie the son of the late James and Mary Finnegan MacIsaac. A lifelong resident of Erie, George served with the 95th Bomb Group during WW II, and it was during the war while stationed in England that he met his wife, June Parry MacIsaac.

George owned and operated Century 21 MacIsaac Realty. After retiring he went to work for Erie Appraisal Associates where he worked until he was 89 years of age. He was one of the founding members of the Greater Erie Board of Realtors and served on its board as well as receiving their "Realtor of the Year award". He also served as chairman of the Erie County Board of Assessment and for many years was president of the Millcreek Youth Athletic Association (MYAA). A talented vocalist, George loved jazz and sang at shows in several local establishments.

During his time in the war he sang for the Army Air Corp Jazz Band. He was a member of the Erie Maennerchor club and performed at its annual Childrens's Christmas party. George was also a member of the "Cherry St. Gang" and the group known as the "Cross Creekers" who enjoyed years of golf and friendship together.

Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife June Parry MacIsaac; a daughter, Sharon Hoyt; a brother, James MacIsaac and 2 sisters, Anna Laurila and Dorothy Hall. George is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Schertzer and her husband Jamie of Erie along with four sons, Cary MacIsaac, Robert MacIsaac and his wife Dana, and Richard MacIsaac and his wife Barbara, all of Erie and Stephen MacIsaac of Pittsburgh, Pa. He is the grandfather of Brian MacIsaac, Kailey Tarbell, and Noelle Schertzer. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

George's family would like to thank the staff and caregivers, including Mandy, at the Sarah Reed Retirement Center for their wonderful care and concern shown to their father during his stay there.
