Silvio W. Pettinelli

Silvio W. “Pat” Pettinelli, 84, of 1 Meadowview Drive, Charlton, MA, formerly of Southbridge, died Saturday, July 26, in the Radius Healthcare Center, Southbridge, after a brief illness.
He leaves a son, Paul W. Pettinelli and his wife, Dawn of Charlton; a daughter, Carol A. Neill and her husband, Thomas of Sturbridge; a grandson, Chace Pettinelli of Chariton; a sister Rosa Palmer and her husband, Milton of Castro Valley, Calif. And several nieces and nephews.
He was born in Southbridge, the son of Paul and Marianina (Iacobucci) Pettinelli
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He served in a B-17 as Radioman and Gunman and flew 35 missions over Germany and received an Air Medal with Silver Oak Leaf.
Pat worked for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, retiring many years ago. Previously he was a bank manager for the former Peoples National Bank, later Guarantee Bank in Southbridge for many years.
He attended Becker College in Worcester.
He was a charter member and past commander of the Leonide J. Lemire Post 6055 in the VFW in Southbridge. He was a member of the American Legion post 391 in Charlton; a member of the 95th Bomb Group Association; a member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society, and a member of the Air Force Gunners Association.
His funeral was held Wednesday, July 30, from the Daniel T. Morrill funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southberidge, with a Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southbridge.
