Frank "Toots" Mago, Jr., age 91, of North Tonawanda, NY died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Absolut of Aurora Park. Born in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Frank and Madeline (nee Blake) Mago.  A lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, Mr. Mago was commissioned a First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during WWII, and flew in the first wave of B-17's to fly over Berlin during the war. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Three Oak Leaf Clusters as well as a Presidential Unit Citation. After the war, he operated Sloat's Bakery in North Tonawanda for more than 30 years and was later employed in the office of Niagara Machine and Tool in Buffalo, before retiring. Mr. Mago was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, the American Legion, Tonawandas Post No. 264, and the Knights of Columbus Madonna Council No. 2535 in North Tonawanda. He was the brother of the late Madeline Burton and Blake F. Mago.

He is survived by his daughter, Lyn (Michael) Lozinsky of Elma, New York; and his sister, Jeune Miller of North Tonawanda. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Saturday at St. Francis Chapel, 71 Adam Street in Tonawanda; the Rev. Michael Uebler officiating. Friends invited. The Mass will conclude with the presentation of Military Honors.  Entombment will be cared for privately at Ascension Chapel Mausoleum at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in the Town of Tonawanda.  If desired, memorials to the Tonawanda Post No. 264 American Legion Band, PO Box 122, Tonawanda, NY 14150, or the North Tonawanda Meals on Wheels Program, 100 Ridge Road, North Tonawanda, NY 14120, are preferred by the family.
