Marvin “Rick” O. Richter

April 24, 1923 – September 26, 2015

With heavy hearts, the Memorials Foundation and the Heritage Association report that Marvin “Rick” Richter of Ceres, California, left formation on 26 September 2015 at age 92. Rick was a 336th radio operator. He passed away peacefully at the Vintage Faire Nursing Center in Modesto.

Mr. Richter was born in Dover, Minnesota, on 24 April 1923. As his obituary reads, “he came to California after receiving a Purple Heart from the Air Force, at the end ...of WWII, with the love of his life, Patricia. Rick (a name his war buddies gave him) and Pat lived most of their lives in Patterson and Ceres, California. Marvin was a compassionate man who loved electronics. When he owned the Richter Radio and TV Store in Patterson, it was well known that if your TV broke down during a Sunday game, he wouldn't hesitate to make a house call to come fix it. Rick and Pat enjoyed their cabin, jazz festivals, domino tournaments, and traveling in their motorhome with a special group of beloved friends. Marvin was also honored to have been a part of the 95th Bomb Group, which flew the 1st B-17s over Berlin. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife Patricia. He was extremely loving and proud of his two children, Ronald Richter of Ceres, CA, and Janet Barcellos and husband Dan of Modesto, CA. He also leaves behind his two grandchildren, Christopher Barcellos of San Jose, CA, and Jennifer Barcellos, of Sacramento, CA.”

A graveside service was held at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W. McCabe Road in Santa Nella, CA.
