With heavy hearts, the Memorials Foundation and the Heritage Association announce that Benjamin “Benny” Francis Hathaway of Largo, FL, and Cross Roads, TX, left formation on 17 November 2015 at age 94. Benny was a 336th bombardier. He passed away peacefully in Denton, TX. Folded wings.
Benny was born on 28 January 1921 in Bridgewater, MA, to the late Alton and Lillian Ellis Hathaway. He served 27 years in the Air Force and retired as a major in 1968. As his obituary reads, Maj. Hathaway “fought over 110 combat missions in WWII, Korean, and Vietnam Wars. Benjamin earned the Silver Star for bravery and valor, Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross, 10 Air Medals among many others. He is survived by his two daughters, Christine Saad-Keefe of Largo, FL, and Janet Conrad of Cross Roads, TX, and their husbands William Keefe and Ronald Conrad; sister Elsie Andre of Leeds, Me; 10 grandchildren, Rick Saad of Ann Arbor, MI, Sean Poliseno of Stevenson Ranch, CA, Michael Saad of San Francisco, CA, David Saad of League City, TX, Scott Poliseno of Denton, TX, Theresa Saad of Nantucket, MA, Caroline Saad of Foxboro, MA, William Saad of Nantucket, MA, Matthew Hashem of Dallas, TX, and Nicolas Hathaway of East Bridgewater, MA; 13 great-grandchildren, Alexander, Owen, Taylor, Tristen, Teagan, Layne, Elias, Andrew, Isabella, Easton, Grady, Scarlett and Olivia. Benjamin has the honor of being interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
