Joseph J. Cihon

In deep sadness, the Memorials Foundation and the Heritage Association announce that Joe Cihon of Shorewood, IL, left formation on 15 April 2018 at age 94. Joe was a 336th top turret gunner/engineer. Folded wings.
Joe was born on 29 January 1924. He and his sons were regulars at 95th reunions. At these events, Joe was usually side by side with the late Ben Roujansky, his radio operator on Milo Trbovich’s crew. Ben passed away at the end of September 2017.
Joe’s obituary reads as follows:
“JOSEPH J. CIHON, World War II Army Veteran, beloved husband of the late Irene Ann (nee Labedz); loving father of David (Marcia), William (Michele), late Ronald (Candice) and late Alice Cihon; dearest grandfather of Eva (Coggin) Hill, Christopher (fiancée Kristen) Cihon, Michael Cihon, Brett (Molly) Cihon, and Layne Cihon; step-grandfather of Matthew (Kelly) Mandros, Lucille (Zachary) Eliopulos, Mary (Todd) McLaine, Christina (Daryl Brewer) Mandros and Tamyra (Jason) Janicki; great-grandfather of Alice Mae and step great grandfather of 14; dear brother of Mae (Jake) Jacobsen, late Edward, late Fred, late Walter (late Emily) and late Florence Kuss; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
