James William Hagenbaugh
April 14, 1916 – November 8, 1999
Lt. Colonel James William Hagenbaugh, 83, a resident of Bend, Oregon, died at the Oregon Veterans Home in the Dalles, Oregon on Monday, November 8, 1999.
He was born April 14, 1916 in Los Angeles, California, the oler of two children to James William and Claire (Redout) Hagenbaugh. He grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Glendale High School in 1934 and Glendale Community College in 1937.
He served in the Army-Air Force during World War II where he piloted the B-17 Flying Fortress in Europe. After the war he returned to California. He retired from the Air Force Reserve in 1978 and from Lockheed Aerospace in 1985 where he was Director of Export Sales, Australia/New Zealand.
He moved to Bend in May 1997 where he continued to enjoy the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jean Marshall Hagenbaugh of Bend, whom he married February 19, 1941, in Los Angeles; his sons and their wives. Mark and Dana Hagenbaugh of Bend, and Steven and Diana of Yuba City, California; grandchildren, Tammy Slabaugh and Craig Hagenbaugh; great granddaughter, Taylor Slabaugh and his brother, Robert Hagenbaugh of Arcadia, California.
