WESTERKAMP, JOSEPH C., 73, of Indian Rocks Beach, died Saturday (April 10, 1993) at Sun Coast Hospital, Largo. He was born in Essen, Germany, and came here in 1979 from McLean, Va.

He retired from the Air Force as a major after 26 years service and worked 15 years as an intelligence research specialist for the Defense Intelligence Agency. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He received four oak leaf clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross medal.

He was a eucharistic minister at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Largo and a member of Retired Officers Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10094, Indian Rocks Beach. He was a past president of National Association of Retired Federal Employees Seminole Chapter 845 and German American Society, Pinellas Park.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores E.; a son, James J., Fredericksburg, Va.; a daughter, Joan D. DeWitt, Arlington, Va.; a brother, William, Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Mary Schmitt, Chicago; and six granddaughters.
