James W. Wint

July 2, 1920 – August 16, 2000

Funeral services for James W. Wint, 80, of Elgin were held on Saturday, August 19, 2000 at 9 a.m. in the first Baptist Church, Fletcher with Rev. Bobby Gilstrap, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Wint died on Wednesday, August 16, 2000 in a Chickasha hospital.

Burial was held in the Elgin Memorial Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home, Fletcher, Oklahoma, with military honors by United States Army Honor Guard, Ft. Sill.

He was born on July 2, 1920 in Elgin, Oklahoma. He graduated from Elgin High School. He also graduated from Oklahoma A & M University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, in Poland and Germany. He was a prisoner of war for thirteen months at Stalag Four.

He married Mary M. Walker on April 28, 1967 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He worked for the APCO refinery in Cyril as Chief Engineer, retiring in 1985. Mr. Wint had lived all his life in the Fletcher and Elgin areas. He was a member of the Elgin First Baptist Church, the Masonic Pilot Masonic Lodge 367 of Elgin, and the Chandler-Bilyeu American Legion Post of Fletcher.

Her is survived by his wife Mary of the home; a son Jimmie L. Wint of Elgin; a stepson Eddie Glasgow of Houston, Texas; a stepdaughter Charlotte Dudgeon of Spencer, Oklahoma; a brother Curtis Wint of Fletcher; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents James W. and Willie B. Wint; two brothers Otto and Frank; a sister Cleora Lorene Wint and a granddaughter Dorothy Glasgow.
