Barbara B. Kaiser, 78, Sarasota, died June 25, 1998. She was born Oct. 12, 1919, in Worcester, Mass., grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and lived in Winnetka, Ill., prior to moving to Sarasota 29 years ago. She graduated from Abbot Academy (since merged with Phillips Andover Academy), Andover, Mass., and attended Flora Stone Mather College of Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.

During World War II, she served in the American Red Cross with the 95th Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force, stationed in Horham, England.

An avid gardener and lover of plants, she worked at the former Greenwood Garden Center and Hillview Flowers in Sarasota and was part owner of a wholesale plant business. She was a board member of Fame Charities Inc. and directed the growing of thousands of Fame poinsettias for Christmas sales. She was a member of the Sarasota Junior League, New College Library Association and Seagrape Garden Circle, and was a volunteer at Selby Botanical Gardens and the Ringling Museum of the Circus. She was a member of St. Boniface Episcopal Church.

Survivors include William M., her husband of 49 years; a son, W. Martin of Milwaukee; a daughter, Anne K. Neff of Silver Spring, Md.; a brother, James G. Bellows of Los Angeles; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Church on Siesta Key. Memorial donations may be made to Selby Botanical Gardens, 811 S. Palm Ave., Sarasota, FL 34236; or to the American Cancer Society, Suite A, 1750 17th St., Sarasota, FL 34234.
