Theodore “Ted” Lawrence Croeni died at age 61 January 10 in his Hillsboro home. Burial was in Fir Lawn Cemetery Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Mr. Croweni was born in rural Washington County and had lived in Hillsboro most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps and attaining the rank of sergeant. He received two presidential citations, for being with the first American bombing mission over Bewrlin and for serving with the 3rd Air Division, bombing fighter-plane plants in Germany.

He worked as a telegraph operator for the Northern Pacific Railroad, as an accountant for the Simpson Lumber Company and in real estate. He was a member of the Hillsboro Moose Lodge and the Hillsboro Elks Lodge.

Surviving are his brothers, Elmer of Hillsboro, Roger of Lincoln City, Ray of Scappoose, Willis of Bend and Albert of Portland; and sister, Virginia A. Rohrer of Portland.
