Chaplain (Col.) Richard E. Robinson, U.S. Army (Ret), age 89, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2007. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA to Thomas and Anna Storf Robinson, he graduated from Waynesburg College.

Col. Robinson entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in August 1942. He graduated from pilot training school and was assigned as Command Pilot in the 95th Bomber Group stationed in England and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal and Senior Pilot's Wings.

He left active service in 1951 to attend Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and was ordained on June 12, 1955. He re-entered active Army service as a Chaplain and retired in July 1970 with the rank of Colonel. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Service organizations include: Sojourners, National Chaplain of Order of Daedalians, National Chaplain of 95th Bomb Group and Perfect Union Masonic Lodge #10 AF&AM. He served as Parish Associate of Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church from September 1988 to December 2005.

Col. Robinson is survived by his wife, Iris F. Robinson; brother, Thomas E. Robinson and wife, Barbara; sister, Ruth Kisinger; stepchildren: Stephen Stoker, Sandra St. Claire and husband, Felix, Kathryn Snow and husband, Mark; seven grandchildren: Emily and Benjamin Snow, Michelle Crespo, Amber Dunn, Stephanie Sharp, Robin St. Claire and Colin St. Claire; great grandchildren, Joey and Ava Crespo; sister-in-law, Jean Goldman and numerous nieces and nephews.
