Frank James Green

Frank James Green died on Friday, (April 10, 2009). He was born in Worcester, MA in 1918 to James and Lillian (Warner) Green. He served as an airplane mechanic with the U.S. Air Corps, serving with the 8th Air Force 95th Bomber group 335th Bomber squadron in England during Word War II where he met and married the love of his life, Gladys Irene Pulling.
They relocated to the Hartford area after the war and worked as an airplane mechanic at United Technologies until his retirement in 1980. During those years he held leadership roles in the Cub and Boy Scouts, Goodwin School PTA and the vestry at All Saints Church.
He traveled the world in retirement as well as volunteered as a tour guide at the State Capitol, docent for the East Hartford historical society and worked with the physically challenged students within the local school system.
He leaves two sons and their spouses: Jeffrey and Gail Green of Lowell, MA, David and Mary Green of Granby and four grandchildren: David Green of Lowell, MA, Caitlin Green of Boston, MA, Austin Green and his wife Rachelle of Etowah, NC and Vanessa Green and her husband Jeremy Gottfried of Little Rock, AR. Besides both his parents he was predeceased by his wife Gladys, in 1986.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 15 at 1 p.m. in the All Saints Episcopal Church, 444 Hills Street, East Hartford, followed by burial in Veterans Field of Hillside Cemetery. Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
