April 5, 1921 – December 18, 1976

 

Harry Andrew Forst, a train director for the Long Island Railroad, died December 18 at North Shore University Hospital. He was 55 years old and lived at 15 Beach Road.

A highly decorated World War II veteran, Mr. Forst served as a gunner in the U.S. Army Air Force where he held the rank of tech sergeant. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 10 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the European, African, and Middle East Service Medal.

He is survived by his widow, Betty; a son, Robert F.; and his father, Harry F. of Rushville, Indiana.

Pastor Robert Johnson of Christ Lutheran Church in Little Neck conducted funeral services Monday evening in the Fliedner Funeral Home. Burial was Tuesday, December 21, in the Long Island National Cemetery.
