Philip H. Poland

Servies will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church for Philip H. Poland of Carroll. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mr Poland, 71, died of a heart attack here on Sunday.
Bornin in Indianola, he moved to Carroll 28 years ago. He was a farmer and formerly worked as county 4-H club agent for Shelby and Audubon counties, Carroll County extension agent and a Cedar County soil conservationist. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and was a member of the National Catholic Rural Life conference and Benedictine Oblates of the Abbey of the Conception.
Survivors include his wife, Anne; six daughter, Peggy Stence, Suzanne Poland and Marthat Poland, all of Carroll, Molly Poland of Omaha, Eileen Poland of Madison, Wis., and Patricia Poland of North Platte, Neb.; six sons, Mark, Stephen and Peter, all of Carrol, John of Audubon, Christopher of Seattle, and George of Sioux City; two sister, Miriam Wildin of St. Charles and Joan Cullen of Crystal Lake; and eight grandchildren.
