Joseph B. McKeon, 89, of 430 Harding St., A World War II veteran, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, in St. Mary's Health Care.

He leaves his cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Rev. Henry F., Dominick and Raymond McKeon and a sister, Margaret C. McKeon.

He was born in Worcester, son of Dominick and Annie M. (Kennedy) McKeon. He attended Commerce High School and graduated from St. Peter's High School. He was a graduate of St. Anselm's College, Manchester, N.H. He was an army veteran of World War II and served as a sergeant in the 8th Army Air Corps with the 95th Bomb Group 336th Squadron in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Mr. McKeon was employed by Commonwealth Gas Company for many years. He was a Golden Anselmian alumnus, a lifetime member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, a member of its St. Vincent de Paul Society, its prayer group and its parish council. He received the St. Vincent de Paul Top Hat Award in April.

The funeral will be Tuesday, August 14, from Callahan Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Rev. Henry F. McKeon Scholarship Fund, St. Anselm's College Alumni Association, Manchester, NH 03104.
