Garland E. Kerlec, a certicate clerk for the Orleans Parish recorder of mortgages ofce, died Thursday of a heart attack at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital. He was 71. Mr. Kerlec was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church, American Association of Retired Persons Crescent City Chapter No. 4117, Hinton Causey Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7194 and 95th Bomb Group of 8th Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Mary Mae Oulliber; a son, Gregory R. Kerlec; two brothers, Lloyd and Owen Kerlec; and two grandchildren. A funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Monday beginning at 8 a.m. Burial will be in All Saints Mausoleum.
