“Ralph Sterling Ziegler, age 100, passed away at his residence on May 8, 2020 in Allison Park. Born on October 28, 1919, he was the son of the late Howard and Leah (Taylor) Ziegler. “He was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen Maxine (Williams) Ziegler.

“Sterling was a graduate of Williamson College of the Trades Graduate and later on went to Purdue University Bachelor's in electrical engineering. He worked at General Electric, engineer for 36 years and retired in 1984. Sterling was a member at Elfinwild Presbyterian Church since 1953. He was also a member of the Engineers club and Butler Country Club. He served meals on wheels for a number of years for people younger than him.

“He served in WWII as a pilot, MIA/POW, and received awards Distinguish Flying Cross and the Purple Heart. Sterling had a hole-in-one at Oakmont Country Club on the sixth hole.

“He is survived by two sons; Gary Ziegler and Randall (Mary Ruth) Ziegler; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.”
