Vincent Leroy Fox, 89, of Sebring died Nov. 19, 2010, in Sebring. Born in Beaver Center, Pa., he had retired to Highlands County in the early 1980s. He was an attorney and counselor in the State Courts of Ohio, practicing in Jefferson. In 1971 he was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.

He served in the United States Army Air Corps as an aviation cadet. He became the navigator on the B-17G Flying Fortress "High Voltage" and was assigned to the 95th Bomb Group (H), 335th Squadron, flying 25 bombing missions, including the first daylight bombing of Berlin. "Foxy" was awarded the following military decorations: European Service Medal, Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters, four battle stars, Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, 95th Bomb Group for successful daylight raids on strategic German military targets. When discharged, he held the rank of captain. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson, Ohio.

Survivors include his sisters, Margaret Weirich and Nina Kenyon; children, David Fox and Mary Philomeno; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Nov. 23 at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring. In lieu of owers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jefferson, 85 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, OH 44047.
