EZELL, WALTER H. - age 83, of Knoxville, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, in Florence, Ala. Member of Lincoln Park Baptist Church. Retired proprietor of Quality Meats and Seafood in Knoxville.
As a World War II Veteran, he served as a waist and tail gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress with the 95th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, with one Silver and one Bronze Star.
He was dedicated to family and friends and lived life to the fullest.
Preceded in death by mother, Geneva H. Ezell father and step mother (who raised him), Mr. and Mrs. James H. Ezell infant daughter, Linda K. Ezell brother, Charles B. Ezell. Survivors: wife of 56 years, Evelyn T. Ezell daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda E. and J.A. Carlson D.O., Shirley E. and Ronnie S. Smith, all of Knoxville sons and daughters-in-law, James H. and Linda G. Ezell of Eugene, Ore., David H. and Karen L. Ezell of Knoxville grandchildren, R. Troy Ezell, Tiffenee Hocker, Sherry Ferrell, David G. Ezell, Elaina K. Earps, Tommy (Dean) Yasko, Jr., Tammy Smith, Ronald S. Smith, Jr., Shannon M. Loveday and Chris Loveday six great grandchildren brother, Hobart K. Ezell of Florence, Ala.
Funeral service 8 p.m. Friday at Stevens Chapel with Rev. Steve Carver ofciating. Family and friends will meet 12:15 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary to go in procession to Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 1 p.m. graveside service and interment. Pallbearers: David G. Ezell, Tommy D. Yasko, Dean Yasko, Ronald S. Smith, Jr., Michael Gibb, Tommy Gibb and David Ervin. Honorary pallbearers: Dr. James A. Carlson and Greg Earps.
