John Robert Eveland
February 10, 1923 – April 8, 2005
MAZOMANIE - John Robert Eveland, age 82, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 8, 2005, at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born in Brigham Township, Iowa County, on Feb. 10, 1923, the son of the late James and Lillian (Schuetz) Eveland. He attended Barneveld High School.
John was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, having served with the 8th Air Force, 95th Bomb Group, as part of the crew of a B17, during World War II. He was united in marriage to Caryl Booth on June 25, 1949, at Blue Mounds Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on April 1, 1986.
Before retiring, John was employed by University Hospital and Student Health for 34 years. He was a charter member of the Tri County Flying Club and an avid aviation enthusiast, a member of Eveland- Trainor American Legion Post 433 of Barneveld, and a member of Midland United Methodist Church, Mazomanie.
He is survived by ve children, Sandy Winch of Mazomanie, John Eveland of Mazomanie, Daniel (special friend, Linda Coffey) Eveland of Arena, Ben (Jane) Eveland of Kasilof, Alaska, Becky (Randy Topp) Eveland of Mazomanie; 11 grandchildren, Randy and Nicholas Ditsch, Tanner (Tricia) Eveland, Cassidy Millard, Josh and Jerri Eveland, Wesley and Jacob Eveland, Jackie, Danielle and Amanda Topp; three great- grandchildren, Jerome, Ian and Claire; two brothers, Robert Eveland and Louis (Sylvia) Eveland; two sisters, Lucy Wirth and Jemima Roberts; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Eveland Sr. and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at MIDLAND UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 10235 County Highway KP, Mazomanie, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2005, with Pastor Andy Husband ofciating. Burial will follow in the Mazomanie Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
