Harold Joseph Dulle, 91, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, January 19, 2008, at Audrain Medical Center, Mexico, Mo. He was born on December 4, 1916, in Jefferson City, the son of Ferdinand Hermann and Clara Helen Schnieders Dulle. He was married on Jan. 8, 1945, in Rapid City, S.D., to Lorraine Mae Reese who survives at the home. A graduate of St. Peter High School, he attended the University of Missouri. Mr. Dulle retired on June 1, 1980, as an Engineer with the Missouri State Highway Commission where he had been employed for 35 years.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II serving with the rank of Captain as a pilot of B-17 bombers and other multi-engined planes. He received the Air Medal with Two Clusters for European Theater of Operations with three battle stars; Presidential Unit Citation with two clusters; Victory medal; and the Missouri World War II Medallion. In May, 1985, he represented the 95th Bomb Group when it was honored by the Government of Holland along with 21 other Army Air Corps personnel from the United States for participating as an Air Corps pilot in dropping food to the starving people of Holland in May, 1945. This food drop was known as "Manna Chowhound."

He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church; charter member of Jefferson City Optimist Club; Past Grand Knight of Helias Knights of Columbus Council 1054; and member of the Board of Directors of the 95th Bomb Group Association. He was a Life Member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1003; American Legion Post 5; and Eighth Air Force Historical Society.

Other survivors include six children and their spouses, Hal and Anne Dulle; Sid and Loriel Dulle; Linda and Gary Tichelkamp; Diana and Gary Unruh; and Lisa and Allen Vennell, all of Jefferson City; and Doug and Diane Dulle, Bentonville, Ark,; 14 grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and Matt Grefrath; Kendall "Chip" Dulle; C.J. Dulle; Paul Tichelkamp; Christy and Steve Gladbach; Holly Tichelkamp; Nathan and Lexi Dulle; Natalie Dulle; Chase Kelsey; Marc Striebinger; Emily and Jeremiah Gibson; Jennifer and Travis Pemberton; Ryan and Jennifer Unruh; Matthew Dulle; and Garrett Dulle; and 13 great-grandchildren, Jordan and Kaitlin Grefrath; Kristen, Cody, and Ashley Tichelkamp; Andi, Jesi, and Jacob Gladbach; Hannah Gibson; Jarett and Paige Pemberton; and Evelyn and Clara Unruh. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Justin Dulle and Lance Kelsey; two sisters, Esther Dulle and Mildred Dumolt; and one brother, Roger Dulle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Donald W. Lammers offciating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Missouri Veterans Home, 1 Veterans Drive, Mexico, MO 65265.
