GRIFFIN, John Monroe 90 of Homosassa, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011 at his home under the loving care of his family and HPH Hospice.

Born July 7, 1920 in El Dorado, AR and moved to Homosassa in 1989 from Northville, MI. John was a retired police officer for the City of Detroit and retired as Superintendent of Civilian Security Police, Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan. He served our Country as Captain in the Army Air Force, 8th Air Force during WWII as Bombardier with 30 missions over Germany.

He was a member of St Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, 8th Air Force Historical Society, 95th Bomb Group Historical Society and the 8th Air Force Heritage Museum.

John is survived by his wife, Rosella S. Griffin of Homosassa; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service with military honors will be held 12:30 pm, T uesday, Jan. 25th, at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. T he funeral procession will leave from Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa Springs T uesday at 11:30 am. Donations in memory of John may be given to HPH Hospice.
