Alexander "Bill" Von Stade, Jr.

Alexander Jr. ("Bill") Von Stade April 30, 1925 - April 30, 2011 Hidden Valley Lake, CA Bill, a long-time resident of Oakland and San Leandro, died peacefully on his 86th birthday. He retired from Montgomery Ward in 1985 after 26 years as a building mechanic. He was an Army-Air Force veteran of WWII, a 32 degree Mason, and an expert woodworker. He was born and raised on a farm in Wauneta, Nebraska, and loved growing things all his life. Predeceased by his cherished first child, Linda Love (2005), his parents, and 8 siblings and their spouses. Survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Edith Von Stade of Hidden Valley Lake; dear sister and brother-in-law Pat and Dale Flowers of Vacaville; dear son-in-law Jim Love of San Leandro; cherished daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Joe Parrish of Livermore; cherished son and daughter-in-law Alex II and Yuki Von Stade of San Leandro; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. We will miss his wonderful sense of humor and his willingness to fix and build just about anything. Visitation and services were held on May 6 in Clearlake. Donations may be made in his name to the charity of your choice.
