Arlington National Cemetery

Arlington, Virginia, USA
Dedicated August 21, 1992

Arlington National Cemetery is the final resting place of more than 400,000 men and women, military and civilian. The cemetery is also home to the nation’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, guarded in perpetuity by an honor guard and bearing these words: “Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God.” Just above the Tomb is a small museum and Memorial Display Room. Within the museum is a memorial plaque to the 95th Bomb Group’s lost men that is displayed as space permits and respectfully stored when not on display. This small plaque, in the shape of a shield, with the Group’s Red Feather shield incorporated into the design, is inscribed as follows:

In memory of
THE UNKNOWN FALLEN FLIERS
95th Bomb Group, Third Division
8th Air Force
During the Air Campaign over Europe
1942 to 1945
LIKE FALLEN LEAVES THEY LEFT US
NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN
